Apa yang terjadi jika kita terlalu lama hiatus, terlalu lama tidak menjamah atau update blog ? Banyak hal yang bisa terjadi dan sudah terjadi pada blog ini. Mari kita telaah lebih jauh dan share pengalaman, tentu bagi yang sudah pernah mengalami. Sedangkan buat teman-teman yang belum pernah semoga menjadi bahan pertimbangan.
1. Traffic dan Rangking
Traffic dan Rangking adalah satu kesatuan yang saling berhubungan. Jika traffic bagus maka otomatis rangking akan bagus juga. Rasanya semua sudah tahu hal ini, maka kita semua berlomba mendapatkan traffic sebaik-baiknya, sebanyak-banyaknya. Mengenai caranya, sudah banyak yang membahas, jadi kita skip saja kali ini.
Apa akibatnya jika kita hiatus terlalu lama terhadap traffic ? Secara otomatis akibat hiatus adalah berkurang atau bahkan berhenti blogwalking. Dengan demikian traffic yang berasal dari referral ( BW ) akan hilang. Mungkin untuk minggu pertama tidak akan terlihat dampaknya, karena biasanya beberapa teman masih datang. Tetapi setelah tahu kita hiatus, mereka akan berhenti berkunjung untuk sementara waktu, menunggu kita kembali.
Traffic yang datang hanya berasal dari search engine. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari beberapa komentar yang masuk, yang lebih banyak ditujukan untuk artikel lama.
Sisi positif dalam hal ini adalah, kita akan tahu seberapa besar posisi dan optimasi kita dalam SERP. Jika selama hiatus masih ada yang datang dari SE, artinya kita sudah bisa diterima dalam lingkungan SE.
Lalu apa hubungannya dengan Rangking ? Alexa adalah rangking yang dihitung berdasarkan traffic. Sebagai contoh, saat awal sebelum blog ini hiatus, Alexa berada di kisaran 150.000-an. Kini anda bisa lihat, sudah bergeser cukup jauh mencapai 250.000-an.
Bagaimana dengan Pagerank ? Sepertinya tidak terlalu jauh berbeda, hanya sistematika perhitungannya lebih kompleks. Lagi pula kenapa masih memikirkan Pagerank kecuali anda berniat memonetize blog dan artinya juga mana mungkin akan hiatus jika berniat bisnis dengan blog.
2. Berkurangnya kemampuan menuangkan ide tulisan
Pisau jika tidak diasah makin lama akan semakin tumpul dan berkarat. Dan apa yang terjadi jika pisau itu sudah semakin tumpul ? Tidak ada jalan lain selain mengasah kembali dari awal atau lebih ekstrim lagi dibuang dan beli yang baru.
Bagaimana jika terjadi pada otak kita. Semakin lama tidak diasah, tidak digunakan akan semakin membuat hilangnya kemampuan untuk menuangkan sebaris ide menjadi sebuah tulisan yang utuh. Untuk membuat judul artikel ini saja saya harus berpikir lebih dari yang biasa sekali ketik langsung jadi. Demikian juga dengan isinya, tidak semudah seperti yang lalu.
Bagaimana jika terpaksa harus hiatus dan tidak ingin hilang kemampuan yang sudah kita bangun ? Tetap berlatih adalah sebuah jalan keluar, tidak ada cara lain. Menuliskan ide-ide secara offline, baik itu berhubungan dengan blog atau tidak akan tetap membuat pikiran kita selalu terlatih dalam menuangkan ide. Jadi saat kita kembali online, tidak akan mengurangi sensitifitas kita terhadap hal-hal yang terjadi di sekitar kita.
